DJI Showing Prototypes of MAVIC Pro

DJI MAVIC Pro prototypes are now displayed by DJI itself.

DJI has just uploaded a video about MAVIC's design with detailed description of how much time and effort you spent on creating the most mobile and, even, the successful drone notes. DJI showed even a little of their development and research process. Some of the first MAVIC prototypes are fairly interesting:

Here can be seen a number of prototypes.

Some are prototypes look like exactly what they are: prototypes. It can be hard to imagine that it ended up being one of the market's most popular drones.

Here you can see how MAVIC could have ended up with that look like: more round shapes with a white body and spindly black arms.

If you look carefully, you can see a black box in the background with a Hasselblad logo. DJI bought last year up in Hasselblad and now own a majority share of the iconic camera manufacturer. Let us hope that the enormous experience of hasselblads build some of the world's best cameras soon translates into even better drone cameras.

As mentioned in the video, DJI, they had difficulty building a gimbal and camera that was so small because the cables normally are too rigid. But they fixed the problem and produced not only the world's smallest 3-axis mechanical gimbal, but did it also able to turn the camera so it can shoot in portrait format.

Here are some of the prototypes from last year as the DJI himself has shown progress in China.

This image shows a scan of the hinge to the MAVIC's foldable arm. The inner spring is to resist and hold the arm in place.

A white version of MAVIC was apparently also in games. DJI has launched a black version of the Phantom, so maybe they will also launch a white MAVIC someday? We just thought they were going to stick to the black. It looks cool out.

All in all, it is said to be a huge engineering feat to have so much technology packed into such a small format and at the same time get it fly stably. The camera's size puts some physical limitations for how well it can be – but it is the fun of flying.

What did you think of flying with MAVIC Pro – or do you still want a MAVIC Pro?
