DJI Mavic 3 is on its way. There have been high expectations for Mavic 3 for a long time and there have been many photos of DJI's new drone in recent weeks. However, the images have all shown the same drone and the same size that made it more likely that they were real.
Mavic 3 comes in two editions. Here's an example of what the biggest improvements are: dual camera (zoom + 5.7K), recording in Apple Prores, 1TB built-in memory and new Smart Controller (ver. 2).
Today we saw the first photos in high quality of the packaging. These are images that confirm what we have seen of the drone in the past couple of weeks, so by now it's pretty safe to say what the Mavic 3 will look like.

Physically, the Mavic 3 has gotten bigger and all the extra processing power that the larger cameras needs, generates more heat, so the drone now needs air intake at the front and sides as well as two more on the underside to keep the GPU cool.
As expected Mavic 3 have a major camera upgrade compared to the Mavic 2 Pro.
DJI bought the majority of Hasselblad and it's clear that it was because they were interested in using the Hasselblad name to promote their cameras. The logo has grown in size and has a prominent position at the front of the camera.
Mavic 3 comes with several upgrades:
- new anti-collision system
- side sensors are gone
- front/rear sensors are moved towards the corners for a better angle
- Dual camera
- Top camera with 7 x Zoom
- 5.7K camera (24mm, f/2.8)
- 16mm adapter lens
- Apple Prores (it is not yet clear whether you need to pay extra for the Prores license)
- 1TB built-in memory
- 46 min flight time
- larger batteries
- battery is mounted from the back
- gimbal lock
- compatible with the Air 2S remote
- The Cine model comes with a new Smart Controller (ver. 2)
The Smart Controller (ver. 2) now has Ocusync 3 (range up to 15 km) with 1,000 nits screen and about 5 hours of battery life.
Mavic 3 comes in two versions (Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine) and is sold in three packages: "Mavic 3“, “Mavic 3 Fly More Combo" and "Mavic 3 Cine Premium Combo". The weight should be 960 gr.
The first two versions comes with DJI's standard remote controller, while the "Cine Premium" edition comes with the new Smart Controller (RC Pro).
In addition, the usual battery chargers, cables, etc. is included. USB-C can now be used directly in the drone for charging.
The "Cine Premium" edition will include a 1Gbps highspeed data cable to transfer video files from the drone. DJI also provides 3 sets of ND filters in the two larger packages.
It also looks like DJI will sell a (5G?) network dongle so you can operate (live stream ?) from the drone. It will be interesting to find out more about that solution.
The propellers have been given orange tips, but do not have the same rounded shape at the tips as the previous Mavic's. It'll be interesting to hear if it's just as quiet.
In addition it seems that DJI is updating the naming of their drones, so all the smaller drones have their own names (Tello, Air, Mini), and they keep the Mavic name for the slightly larger drones (about 1 kg).
DJI Mavic 3 will be launched at an event in November and will hopefully go on sale immediately afterwards. The sales price for the standard version should be about USD 1,600. But we can't wait to see more, get all the details and add Mavic 3 to the range of our drones.
